J <br /> Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> December 14, 2021 6.1i <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In November, the locators processed 385 locate tickets. These consisted of 6 emergency <br /> tickets, 290 normal tickets, 4 non-excavation tickets, 4 boundary surveys, 60 updated <br /> tickets, 7 cancellations, and 12 locate meets. This resulted in a 26.9%decrease of tickets <br /> from the previous month and a 14.9% increase from the previous year. <br /> • Electrical technicians completed 236 service order tasks, updated the power bill, <br /> attended to customer meter/power quality issues and off-peak concerns. <br /> • On November 18, staff ran generators #1, #2, #3 & #4 with no issues. <br /> • Mapping department has been busy GPSing splices & conduit locations along with <br /> getting caught up on mapping changes/new construction from throughout the year. <br /> • Staff has completed changing out substation meters at Otsego, Station 14, Banks 3 & 4 <br /> along with replacement of the high side arresters on the bus of Bank 3. We are working <br /> with Great River Energy (GRE) on the removal of their equipment at the West substation <br /> control house. <br /> • GRE experienced a transmission system outage on November 24 that affected our <br /> customers served by the Otsego substation. The outage was caused by a vehicle that <br /> struck a transmission pole near Maple Lake. GRE was able to do some switching and get <br /> power restored to our customers within 18 minutes. <br /> • We have selected VASS Solutions as our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) <br /> consultant, and already have had two meetings with them. They have truly exhibited a <br /> vast knowledge of the AMI industry to the team, and we are well on the way to <br /> developing a request for proposals that will help us select the best vendor for our AMI <br /> project. Part of the consultant costs will be paid in 2021 with majority of the costs being <br /> paid in 2022. This is budgeted under Consulting Fees. <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br /> 152 <br />
