Request for Action Cir•ci Elk - River= To Item Number Economic Development Authority 7.1 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by General Business November 15, 2021 Brent O'Neil, Economic Development Director Item Description Reviewed by 2021 EDA City Beautification Award Cal Portner, City Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Approve by motion, the recommendation from the Beautification Committee and recognize the award recipient. Background/Discussion The Beautification Committee was established in March of 2017. From May through October, the Committee accepts nominations from the public and/or self-nominations and in November they select one finalist for the award. The recipient will receive the award at the following EDA meeting presented by the EDA President and a member of the Beautification Committee. Beginning in 2021 the award criteria was expanded to include interior improvements as well as exterior improvements. On October 11, 2021, the Committee reviewed applications and recommends AEGIR Brewing Company, for their efforts to enhance the property at 19050 Industrial Blvd NW. They completed an extensive renovation of the interior space converting an industrial space into an inviting taproom. Representatives of AEGIR will be present to accept the award. Financial Impact N/A Mission/Policy/Goal The City Beautification Award recognizes business owners whose efforts to clean,repair,improve and enhance the overall aesthetics of either the interior or exterior of the business,property and/or space thereby maintaining the beauty of their neighborhood and surroundings. It is presented to encourage community improvements,enhance our city's image and economic vitality.
