<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 9.3 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Work Session September 20, 2021 Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Elk River Ministerial Association Donation <br />Designated Use Discussion <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Discuss and provide staff direction for the designated use of the $6,500.00 Elk River Ministerial Association <br />Donation to the City of Elk River. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Mayor Dietz was invited to an event hosted by the Elk River Ministerial Association. The association collected <br />$6,500 from its membership and donated it to the city to use in whatever way they determined. <br /> <br />At the September 7, 2021, regular meeting, Mayor Dietz asked for Council suggestions on how to designate the <br />donation. Suggestions included the following: <br />1) Something that would benefit the entire city, such as Elk RiverFest. <br />2) A long-term fixture such as a bench or a mural at the Furniture and Things Community Events Center. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to discuss further ideas at the ensuing meeting. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />N/A <br /> <br />Mission/Policy/Goal <br />The Elk River Mission: Where council and staff work with citizens to develop a sustainable and prosperous community for all to <br />live, work and play; and to appropriately govern in an ever-changing environment. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> None <br /> <br /> <br />The Elk River Vision <br />A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional <br /> <br />service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity. <br /> Updated: August 2020 <br />
