<br />ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING <br />January 8, 1896 <br /> <br /> <br />The Board of Supervisors met at Town Clerks’ office at 10 o’clock A.M. Present W.L. Babcock, <br />chairman, B.F. Plummer and John Blocher. <br /> <br />The Road Petition of Henry Castle and others for a new road was presented said new road as <br />described in said petition runs as follows. Beginning at a point 2 rods south from a point on the <br />south line of section 23, Township 33, Range 26 and 21 74/100 chains west from the south east <br />corner of said section 23 and from first named point running westerly on the most practicable route <br />for a road to the Nickerson and Princeton Stage road, so called, and recorded in the Road Calendar <br />of the office of the Auditor of Sherburne County on Page 10 and to a point in said road, 2 rods <br />south from the point where said road crosses the south line of section 22, Township 33, Range 26. <br /> <br />The Road Petition of F.W. Nickerson and others for a new road was presented. Said new road as <br />described in said petition runs as follows: Beginning at a point on the south line of section (13) <br />Township (33), Range 26. Which point is 7 chains east from the quarter section post in the south <br />line of said section 15 and running an easterly and northeasterly direction on the most practicable <br />route for a road on sections 15, 14, 13, 22 and 23 to the southwest corner of the south east quarter <br />of the northeast quarter of section 13, Township 33, Range 26. <br /> <br />The Road Petition of W.S. Babcock and others for a new road was presented. Said new road as <br />described in said petition runs as follows. Beginning at the northeast corner of the southeast quarter <br />of section 16, Township 33, Range 26 and running thence westerly and northwesterly on the most <br />practicable route for a road to station (4) in the town road from the Keasling and Elk River County <br />Road where the same crosses the south line of section 8 same town and range as above, to the south <br />line of section (4) and the same is on file of record in the office of the Town Clerk of Elk River. <br /> <br />The Road Petition of John Blocher and others for a new road was presented. Said new road as <br />described in said petition runs as follows. Beginning at station in the Town Road (known as the <br />Cameron Road) which runs from Elk River Village to the northeast corner of section 25, Township <br />33, Range 26 as the same is on file and of record in the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Elk <br />River and running from said station (5) northerly and northwesterly in the most practicable route for <br />a road through sections 26, 23 and 14 to stations 4 in the town road (known as the Eagle Lake <br />Road) which runs from the Nickerson and Princeton Road on section 15 to the east line of section <br />1, Township 33, Range 26 as the same is on file and of record in the office of the Town Clerk of the <br />Town of Elk River. <br /> <br />Upon examination each of the petitions was found in due form and it appearing to the Board by the <br />affidavits of Andrew Davis attached thereto that copies of each of said petitions had been posted in <br />three public places of said town as provided by law, for at least twenty days prior to the date of this <br />meeting. On motion it was voted that Jan 28, 1896 at 10 o’clock A.M. at the Town Clerk’s office in <br />said town be fixed upon as the time when and the place where this Board will meet for the purpose <br />of viewing and hearing all reasons for and against the same. <br /> <br />Notice of hearing were made in due form and signed by all the members of the Board. <br /> <br />
