<br />ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING <br />December 16, 1893 <br /> <br /> <br />The supervisors met this day as per adjournment, at the Sheriff’s office at court house. Present: Dr. <br />R. Houlton, Chairman; B.F. Plummer, John Blocher. <br /> <br />This being the time and place for the hearing on the road petition signed by D.R. Houlton and <br />others and marked Exhibit “A” for a new road as set forth in said petition, and it appearing to the <br />Board by Affidavit of E.E. Bryant that he had three copies of the notice of hearing on each of the <br />occupants of the land through which said road may run, at least two days prior hereto, and in further <br />appearing to the Board by affidavit of said E.E. Bryant that he had posted copies of said notice in <br />three public places of said town at least two days prior hereto, the Board proceeded to view the line <br />proposed for said new road. <br /> <br />No one appearing to offer objection to the laying out of said road, and it appearing to the Board to <br />be necessary and proper the same should be laid out, located and established on motion it was voted <br />that the prayer of the petition be granted, and that a public road four rods in width be laid out, <br />located and established accordingly. A survey was ordered made by J.H. Williams, surveyor. <br /> <br />This being also the time and place set for the hearing on the road petition signed by D.R. Houlton <br />and others and marked Exhibit “B” for a new road as set forth in said petition and if appearing is <br />the Board that all of the land through which the said road would run is vacant and unoccupied and if <br />further appearing to the Board by affidavit of E.E. Bryant that he had posted copies of said notice in <br />three public places in said town at least two days prior hereto, the Board proceeded to view the line <br />proposed for said new road. <br /> <br />No one appearing to offer objection to the laying out of said road, and it appearing to the Board to <br />be necessary and proper that the same should be laid out. So called and established in motion it was <br />voted that the prayer of the petition be granted and that a public road four rods in width be laid out <br />so called and established accordingly.
