______________________________________________________________________________

UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING

TO:
ERMU Commission
FROM:
Jennie Nelson – Customer Service Manager
MEETING DATE:
August 10, 2021
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
6.1d
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None

DISCUSSION:
• The City’s Environmental Coordinator and I met with representatives from Republic
Services and Randy’s Sanitation to discuss service issues and public communication
regarding their merger. They committed to being more proactive with their
communication when dealing with driver shortages and provided bullet points to share
with the community regarding their merger.

• The Credit & Collections Specialist and I are working with the communications
department to create a bill insert explaining the Cold Weather Rule changes, giving
energy assistance information, and notifying customers that penalties will resume in
January. This is planned to be inserted with the September bills.

• Our customer service department has been inundated with high bill complaints, mostly
surrounding water usage. Our customer service representatives and specialists have
handled the calls well and we’re all hoping for some rain!

• Our backflow prevention records management company, HydroCorp, sent out the first
few batches of residential pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) testing notifications. We’ve
had a few appointments made thus far and feedback about the new residential testing
program has been positive.
92
