With reduced programming in 2020 due to the pandemic we
delayed filling this position. We went to market in April of this year and received 166 applications.

We offered interviews to five candidates and were moving forward with one candidate when he informed us, he
took a different position. We then offered interviews to seven additional candidates. Following second interviews,
background, and reference checks we recommend Warren Ellingworth for the position.

Mr. Ellingworth has been working in the recreation field since 2015. Although a native Minnesotan, he has been
working for the City of Oceanside, California for the past two years. Mr. Ellingworth holds a bachelor’s degree in
Sports Management from St. Cloud State University and is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional.

Mr. Ellingworth will start at step B of pay grade 8E. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.

Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.

Mission/Policy/Goal
N/A

Attachments
None

The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional

service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity.
Updated: August 2020
