______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />May 11, 2021 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered four new water meters. <br />• Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from three water services. <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards. <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br />• Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br />• Water Department staff worked with the utility contractor for Prestigious Woodland <br />Hills 5th Addition to create a temporary watermain bypass in that area. The necessary <br />bypass will maintain water service to a section of the water system while changes are <br />made to existing watermains during construction. <br />• Gates at the Lake Orono Dam were partially closed on April 12 to raise the lake level <br />back to normal, Utilities staff will continue to monitor and maintain lake levels. <br />• We will be flushing hydrants May 10 – 14. Customers have been notified, and a map <br />with the zones and the dates we’ll be flushing has been added to our website. <br />• The Auburn Street Water Tower has been refilled, passed water sample tests, and put <br />back in service for the season. <br />• The Water Operator position posting closed on April 30. Staff is in the process of <br />reviewing the applications. <br />• Water Department staff continue to work with State and County staff on the County <br />State Aide Highway 12, Highway 10 reconstruction, and Highway 169 Redefine projects. <br />• As part of our Wellhead Protection Plan Amendment, we’re required to hold a Public <br />Information Meeting to discuss any issues or concerns regarding part 1 of the plan <br />294
