______________________________________________________________________________

UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING

TO:
ERMU Commission
FROM:
Thomas Geiser – Operations Director
MEETING DATE:
May 11, 2021
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
6.1g
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None

DISCUSSION:
• Staff continues to meet with T2 Utility Engineers, WSB Engineering, and MnDOT for the
upcoming Highway 169 Redefine project. Permits have also been sent to MnDOT and we
are waiting on approval so we can start construction as soon as possible. Our preference
would be to begin construction mid-May.

• Staff met with the County and Bolton & Menk, Inc. to review 60% plans for the County
Road 13 Project, which will bring roundabouts to Line Avenue and Tyler Street. Staff has
begun setting new poles for the new line location.

• Working with the owners of the refuse-derived fuel processing plant and Great River
Energy (GRE) to make the transition from GRE’s 69-kilovolt transmission line to ERMU’s
distribution grid. Staff has begun installation of the necessary underground for the
transition.

• Staff removed the streetlights from Proctor Road to Lowell Avenue for the Highway 10
reconstruction project with MnDOT. The streetlights will be reinstalled when the project
is complete.

• The substation transformer was delivered May 5. Staff is in the process of terminating
the underground to transfer the power plant to the new pad mount substation
transformer, once this is complete, the old plant substation will be torn down so
earthwork can begin for the new building.

289
