UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
April 13, 2021 1.4
SUBJECT:
Resolution Recognizing2021 Drinking Water Week
ACTION REQUESTED:
Adopt Resolution21-4 Recognizing Drinking Water Week, May 2-8, 2021
BACKGROUND:
Drinking Water Weekis an annual celebration organized by the American Water Works
Association (AWWA) and its members. It is intended to raise awarenessof the critical role that
safe, sustainable, and affordable drinking water plays in our daily lives. Drinking Water Week is
a chance for everyone to appreciate water as a finite resource that requires dedicated
individuals, running well-maintained systems, to make it safe and easily available. This year’s
celebration will be May 2-8, 2021.

DISCUSSION:
The mission of Elk River Municipal Utilities is to provide our customers with safe, reliable, cost-
effective, and quality long term electric and water utility service. To communicate and educate
our customers in the use of utility services, programs, policies, and future plans. These products
and services will be provided in an environmentally and financially responsible manner.

Fulfilling that mission means a daily commitment to maintaining the systems that provide safe
and reliable water. A domestic water system and other urban services like wastewater and
electricity are the foundation of social and economic development. Our water system is an
important part of why our community is what it is today.

ATTACHMENT:
Resolution No. 21-4 – Recognizing Drinking Water Week

______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 1
3
