<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 8.2 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />General Business April 5, 2021 Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />2021 Skate Park Grant Program Application for <br />Orono Park <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Adopt, by motion, a resolution authorizing application submittal, and a commitment to execute the grant <br />agreement if funds are awarded for the 2021 Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission Skate Park Grant Program. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission is soliciting applications for its 2021 Skate Park Grant Program. The <br />grant program will reimburse up to $125,000 of completed projects. The result of a successful grant shall be to <br />develop a skate park capable of hosting competitions and training, serve as a recreational amenity for the <br />community for users of all ages, and maximize the community’s ability to generate economic benefits. <br /> <br />Applications are due Thursday, April 15, 2021. <br /> <br />The MASC intends for this grant program to accomplish the following goals: <br />1. Encourage communities and organizations to work in partnership to develop and operate skate parks. <br />2. Provide increased opportunities for female participation in skate boarding. <br />3.
