`q//��/ //////0/////�r§rrrr, SI I I r 114111 CONSTRUCTION March 26, 2021 Chris Kerzman Engineering Manager Elk River Municipal Utilities 1705 Main Street Elk River, MN 55330-0430 RE: Elk River Municipal Utilities Field Services Facility Expansion Dear Mr. Kerzman; On March 24, 2021, bids and quotes were received at the Elk River Municipal Utilities— Field Services Facility Expansion project. We are excited to report that there was great interest in the project in that a total of one hundred seventy (170)bids and quotes were received for the forty-three(43) bid categories and quote categories. With bids received in all categories, the overall construction Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimate is at approximately $12.3 million, under the last project estimate of$12.4 million. The structural steel industry is seeing material lead times at an all-time high. Based on this knowledge and in an effort to expedite the order for structural steel materials we are requesting an early approval to award a contract to the apparent low steel bidder for bid category 5A. This early procurement will allow the project to break ground during the month of July 2021 and complete summer 2022. At this time RJM has completed its review of bid category 5A structural steel material and is recommending award of bid category 5A only as noted below. The recommendations are based on the low cumulative total bid received for the base bid, with no alternates. The bid tabulation for bid category 5A is attached for your review. We recommend to the Utilities Commission that they approve the award of the following contracts at this time.
