Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Action Requested <br />Informational. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The proposed revisions to the Rental Dwelling Program are intended to streamline the process and <br />lessen the amount of staff time conducting inspections. <br />Staff reviewed program logistics with our comparative cities and found we were one of two cities <br />charging higher initial license fees. To better align the City of Elk River with our comparative cities, the <br />proposed revisions include: <br />■ adjusting fees for new and renewed rental licenses <br />■ reducing inspections for landlords/property management companies in good standing <br />■ streamlining the application process via CitizenServe <br />■ changing payments to online or cashier's check only <br />The attached draft ordinance and resolution reflect these changes and have been reviewed by the city <br />attorney.
