UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />January 12, 2021 6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> Delivered eleven new water meters. <br /> Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from thirteen water services. <br /> Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> Completed 21 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> SubmittedDischarge Monitoring Report for the Diesel Generation Plant to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br /> Verizon Wireless has completed an upgrade of their antenna equipment on the Gary <br />Street Water Tower. Verizon will also be starting installation of equipment on The <br />Freeport Street Water Tower in early January. <br /> The water department continues to work with city staff on maintaining the water level <br />for the Lake Orono Restoration and Enhancement, as well as planning for future <br />construction work at Orono Park and Fire Station 3. <br />WilliamCourtrighthas accepted the new Water Utility Worker position, which was <br />created to help perform device testing required for the backflow prevention program. <br />Mr. Courtright has been with ERMU for the past three summers as a seasonal worker. <br />He has expanded his role over that time, quickly proving with his experience and work <br />ethic that he has a lot to offer the department. <br />The water operators have started the annual task ofrecharging all of the filters at the <br />water treatment plants. This process takes roughly one week per filter.
