<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 89 - 62- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING A PERMANENT FOUR-WAY STOP SIGN <br />AT THE INTERSECTION OF SCHOOL STREET AND COUNTY ROAD #1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a four-way stop sign has previously been installed by <br />Sherburne County at the intersection of County Road #1 <br />and School Street during various construction projects <br />including the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 10; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the period of time when this four-way stop sign <br />was in place, the intersection was improved for both <br />the safety of pedestrians and vehicle traffic; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is imperative for the City and County to be <br />pro-active in installing safety measures at this <br />intersection as it is part of a main transportation <br />pattern for school buses and for school children; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the congestion of vehicles at this intersection would <br />be reduced by allowing a smoother left turn movement <br />. for vehicles going south on County Road #1; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the rate of speed of the vehicles traveling on Proctor <br />Avenue would be greatly reduced by a four-way stop <br />sign; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the traffic flow for vehicles attempting to enter on <br />to County Road #1 would be improved by this four-way <br />stop intersection. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City <br />of Elk River that for the reasons stated herein, the <br />City Council of the City of Elk River respectfully <br />request the Sherburne County Board of Commissioners to <br />install a four-way stop sign at the intersection of <br />School Street and County Road #1. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River <br />the 30th day of October, 1989. <br /> <br />/ ~~ <br />~"~~/? / ~4!1:~/ <br /> <br />James Traile, Mayor <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />J~tldh~ <br /> <br />Sandra Thackeray, City Clerk ~ <br />
