UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />TO: FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Dave Ninow Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />December 8, 2020 6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Delivered four new water meters. <br />Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from four water services. <br />Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />Completed 18 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />During planning meetings for the Highway 169 Redefine project, MnDOT indicated they <br />would like some of the water main relocations required for the project to be done next <br />year, ahead of their work. Staff is working with Elfering and Associates to plan these <br />relocations. Most of the other water main work will be performed by MnDOTs <br />contactor during construction of the freeway. <br />We have drained the Freeport Water Tower for the winter. Throughout previous <br />winters, the tower was subject to roughly buildup on top of the water, which <br />is extremely damaging to the structure and paint. We will wash and refill the tower <br />sometime in the spring. <br />During watermain valve exercising, water operators discovered that the service valve <br />serving a customer on School Street is leaking. The property owners have been informed <br />that they are required to have the valve repaired. <br />Verizon Wireless has completed reinstallation of their equipment on Auburn Street <br />Water Tower. <br />Water Department staff has been working with City staff on replacing fire hydrants for <br />the Public Safety Building project and adjusting gates at the Lake Orono Dam to <br />maintain lake levels for the Lake Orono Restoration and Enhancement project. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />November 2020 Pumping by Well <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />162 <br />
