<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 89 - 15 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE TAX <br />TRANSFER TO THE ROAD USER FUND <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elk River is concerned <br />about adequate financial resources to meet the <br />transportation needs within the Elk River area; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the street and highway system needs within the Elk <br />River area are similar to the street and highway needs <br />throughout the State of Minnesota; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the improvement of the transportation system is a high <br />priority to the City of Elk River and it appears that <br />the highway system is deteriorating at a faster rate <br />than the financial ability to maintain and rebuild the <br />system; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City and County highway and street plans are <br />dependent upon the Motor Vehicle Excise Tax (MVET) and <br />the need for adequate funding is essential for an <br />adequate system to be maintained. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Elk River that the City Council supports the 100% <br />transfer of MVET to the Road User Fund in order to <br />provide a stable source of adequate funding for the <br />construction and maintenance of streets and highways in <br />the State of Minnesota. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River <br />this 27 day of February, 1989. <br /> <br />\ <br />I If -r:->07 <br />-.-/~ ~~ <br /> <br />James A.
