<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 5, 1966 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on July 5, <br />1966 by Mayor Coles. All members were present. The minutes of the last meetings were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />An application for the Police Officer was received from Robert McCartney whose address is St. <br />Paul, Min. After some discussion a motion was made by Syring and seconded by Briggs to hire Mr. <br />McCarthy at the rate of $375 per month for a 48 hour week, one week vacation after year, after two <br />years two weeks vacation per year. Also twelve days sick leave and $50 clothing allowance each year. <br />The motion was put to a vote and passed all voting in favor. <br /> <br />At this meeting the Council agreed to have the dump open on Tuesday P.M. Thursday P.M. and <br />Saturday all day during the summer months. <br /> <br />Robert Reynolds, Neil Larson and John Mac Gibbon were present and there was further discussion <br />regarding the opening an off sale liquor store at the intersection of Main Street and Hi. 169. Mr. <br />Reynolds will look up information as to how much it would to establish a liquor store at that place. <br /> <br />Otis Nickerson, William Patenaude and Richard Halter of the Elk River Power and Light <br />Commission met with the Council. They gave information and statistics regarding the operations of <br />the Commission and how much the Commission has been doing for the benefit of the Village. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Hudson to send the following letter to Neil Larson <br />and Robert Johnson with a copy to the Planning Commission. This was in regard to the suggested <br />off sale liquor Store on Main Street and Highway 169. <br /> <br />“It is the intension of this Council to consider opening an off sale liquor store in the general area <br />Northeast of the intersection of Main Street and Main Street Highway No. 169 after submitting the <br />matter to the Planning and Zoning Commission for study and recommendations; such <br />recommendations are to be solicited within a 60 day period.” The motion passed with all voting in <br />favor. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Roeblers Pure Oil – Gas, oil $96.09 <br />Art Barnier – Labor $288.46 <br />Le Roy Pike – Labor $294.32 <br />Clarence Kramer – Labor $252.00 <br />Dave Zimmer – Labor <br />Robert Dahms – Life Guard $312.00 <br />Earl Priffer – Labor $80.25 <br />Lucy Hamilton – Cleaning $6.00 <br />Earl Priffer – Labor $23.25 <br />Indy Duggan – Life Guard $135.00 <br /> <br />
