<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 89 - 8 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE AERIAL LADDER PLATFORM FIRETRUCK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Elk River Volunteer Fire Department and Elk River City <br />Council have concurred that the highest ranking immediate <br />priority of the Volunteer Fire Department in order to insure <br />proper and efficient fire protection service to its citizens <br />is an Aerial Ladder Platform Fire Truck; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Elk River City Council is supportive of the continuous <br />effort of the Volunteer Fire Department to improve its <br />facilities and firefighting equipment in order to insure the <br />safety of the volunteer firefighters and the citizens of the <br />community; and, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the Elk River City Council evaluation process of <br />determining appropriate financial options to purchase an <br />Aerial Ladder Platform Fire Truck, determined it to be in <br />the best interest of the community to have a public <br />vote as to whether or not bonds should be issued for <br />the purpose of financing this purchase; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, if the public votes in the affirmative to issue bonds for <br />the purchase of this Aerial Ladder Platform Fire Truck, the <br />City Council of the City of Elk River is committed to using <br />Liquor Store profits or reserves for the Fire Department <br />building expansion that is necessary to house the Aerial <br />Ladder Platform Truck; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Resolution 89-3, adopted by the Elk River City Council on <br />January 9, 1989, determined that such a public vote on the <br />purpose of purchasing this fire equipment is to take place <br />on February 14, 1989. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk <br />River, that all voting citizens of the City of Elk River are <br />encouraged to vote yes as to whether the City should issue <br />bonds for the purpose of financing the purchase of the <br />Aerial Ladder Platform Fire Truck and related equipment for <br />the better fire protection service of the community and the <br />better protection of the volunteer firefighters. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 30th day of January, 1989, by the City <br />Council of the City of Elk River. <br /> <br />~_Lff~ <br /> <br />James A.
