Request for Action Cir•ci Elk - River= To Item Number Economic Development Authority 7.1 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by General Business November 16, 2020 Colleen Eddy, Economic Development Specialist Item Description Reviewed by 2020 EDA City Beautification Award Cal Portner, City Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Approve by motion, the recommendation from the Beautification Committee and recognize the award recipient. Background/Discussion The Beautification Committee was established in March of 2017. From May through October, the Committee accepts nominations from the public and/or self-nominations and in November they select one finalist for the award. The recipient will receive the award at the following EDA meeting presented by the EDA President and a member of the Beautification Committee. On November 9, 2020, the Committee reviewed applications and recommends Elk Plaza Dental, for their efforts to enhance the surrounding neighborhood and community. They modernized their building exterior and added new landscaping. They took an older building and gave it much needed pop and beautification. Dr. Hunter, owner of Elk Plaza Dental,will accept the award. Financial Impact N/A Mission/Policy/Goal The City Beautification Award recognizes business owners whose efforts to clean,repair,improve and enhance the overall aesthetics of either the interior or exterior of the business,property and/or space thereby maintaining the beauty of their neighborhood and surroundings.
