Meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Monday, November 9, 2020 <br /> <br />Members Present: Tamara Ackerman, Ann McCormick, Melissa McAlpine, and Ryan Hardin <br /> <br />Members Absent: Rhonda Magnussen <br /> <br />Staff Present: Colleen Eddy, Economic Development Specialist <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee <br />was called to order at 10:03 a.m. <br /> <br />2. Consider Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Hardin and seconded by McCormick to approve the agenda. Motion <br />carried 4-0. <br /> <br />3.0 Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Hardin and seconded by Ackerman to approve the consent agenda. <br />Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br />Introductions were made as the committee welcomed Melissa McAlpine to the <br />group. <br /> <br />4.1 Beautification Application Review <br />Ms. Eddy presented the staff report. The group discussed the two finalists and is <br />recommending the award recipient to be Elk Plaza Dental, as they scored higher on “the <br />business property/space visually enhances the surrounding neighborhood”. <br /> <br />Committee members discussed some ideas on what they would like to award the winner in <br />November. Some ideas were a plaque that would be located outside the business to <br />everyone would see it, a gift card from a local nursery, and chamber bucks to be spent at an <br />Elk River business. Mr. Hardin will contact the owner of Plants and Things on available <br />options. <br /> <br />5.1 Announcements <br />Chairperson Ackerman stated she is resigning her position on the Beautification Committee <br />after this year, but will be available to help with filling her vacancy. <br /> <br />6. Adjournment <br /> <br />Motion by Ackerman and seconded by Hardin to adjourn the meeting at 10:52 a.m. <br />Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br />
