<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 1, 1964 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River village council was held at the village hall on Sept 1, 1964. All <br />members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Rev. McKewin was present. He thanked the mayor and council for the help given him in connection <br />with plans for the Senior Apartment and the nursing home. <br /> <br />Herman Hohlen and Loyd Todahl attended the meeting and asked about a club license for the <br />American Legion. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Briggs to grant the license as soon as the application <br />is completed and the bond delivered to the clerk. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Bernie Schwab, candidate for County commissioner, called on the council. <br /> <br />Motion by Bartelt and second by Meyer to transfer $10,000.00 from the Liquor Store fund to the <br />General Fund. Carried. <br /> <br />A delegation from the Town of Otsego, Jerome Perrault, Frank Beaudry and Robt. LeFebvre met <br />with the council regarding a fire contract with the village. They object to paying for grass fire calls. <br />No agreement was reached at this meeting. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to send a bill to Dares Funeral Service for police service at the time of the Louis <br />Baldowsky funeral. <br /> <br />The clerk was also asked to write the League asking if the village can legally levy for a sinking fund <br />for a possible village hall or similar construction. <br /> <br />A building permit was granted to Dr. McNair for a garage. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Inland Home Center – door 29.00 <br />Zep Mfg Co – supplies 30.03 <br />Gopher Stamp and Die – signs 18.60 <br />Star News – printing 7.45 <br />League of M. Muni. – dues 126.00 <br />Herlyn Sabs – repairs 26.75 <br />H&S Asphalt – mix 136.16 <br />Elk River Lmbr Co – supplies 7.37 <br />Dan Bailey – abstract and recording 41.50 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, oil 79.95 <br />E.R. Concrete Prod – material 230.33 <br />Fire Department – fires 123.00 <br />Hubbard Co Welfare – Anderson case 50.00 <br /> <br />
