<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 3, 1964 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Feb 3, 1964. All <br />members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Al Balow, manager of the Municipal Liquor Store was present. He asked to have a new cooler to <br />provide more space. Upon motion by Meyer and second by Bartelt the Council approved the <br />purchase of the cooler. <br /> <br />Harry Kreuser was present. He asked about dedicating a street south of Highway 10, near Xenia <br />Ave. He will bring in a map showing the location of the street. <br /> <br />John Bailey and Kenneth Parker attended the meeting. They asked that a signal be placed on Proctor <br />Ave at the railroad crossing. A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Bartelt to write the <br />State Railway and Warehouse Commission to find out if they have a fund for help on school <br />crossings of this kind. Mr. Jerry Spencer, County Engineer, will cooperate with the village in this <br />matter. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Oliver Micheau, Chief of Police, asked for help for the expense of meals while on duty at night. <br />Motion by Briggs and seconded by Norris to allow Micheau $15.00 per month to help pay for meals. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to write the chairman of the Library Board to have some of the members meet <br />nd <br />with the council at the next regular meeting which will be Mar 2. <br /> <br />Motion by Bartelt and seconded by Norris to have real estate information brought up to date and <br />ask the Power and Light Department to allow one of their men keep the village assessor to aid in the <br />work. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />H.A. Briggs – office keys 3.15 <br />Oliver Micheau – maintenance 15.00 <br />Ernest Nilson – police 60.00 <br />LeRoy Pike – labor 127.54 <br />Art Barnier – labor 106.31 <br />N.W. Bell – phone 9.00 <br />Fire Department – fires 210.00 <br />Minn. Fire Ext Co – supplies 59.78 <br />Sherburne County – weed control 2.78 <br />Elk River Lumber – mdse 26.79 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – hauling 74.50 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, oil 72.93 <br />Frank Nickerson – regulator 8.00 <br />Carlson Bros – 3.15 <br /> <br />
