5.5
Library Services Coordinator Report -Board Meeting -10/27/2020
Things have certainly changed since our last board meeting in January, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Included below is a review of the timeline of events since the library closure on March 16:
March 16 -library Closure
April 9 -All in-person programs/events cancelled or postponed until further notice
April 13 -Curbside services during limited hours begin in Elk River
May 11 -Curbside services offered during all regular open hours
May 21 -Print to go curbside services begins
May 26 -Adult book club program resumes virtually
May/June-Wi-fl access for exterior of building/parking lot upgraded
June 1 -Staff fully returns to work
June 1 -July 31 -Summer Reading Program -Virtual on Beanstack and Curbside
June 15 -Computer Reservations by appointment
June 22 -Browsing by Appointment and limited building access/capacity for other services
July 14 -In -building wi-fi access by reservation
July 20 -LIBRARY RE -OPENS! operating in a "Grab and Go" mode
July 25 -Mask Mandate takes effect
August 24 -Official Announcement of Re -opening, most GRRL libraries re -open by this date
Sept. 21 -Study rooms and other "spaces" available by reservation
Summer Reading Program -The Summer Reading Program was limited this year due to the pandemic,
closures and other restrictions. We did have 98 children and teens participating through our Beanstack
app and curbside this year.
CIP items: During the closure, we did have two of our upholstered chairs re -done. They look great, but
they are not being used right now while the library is operating in our "grab and go" mode. We have
placed signage on all of our upholstered furniture due to enhanced cleaning/disinfecting procedures,
and have removed other furniture as we are asking patrons to keep their visits to the library brief in
order to mitigate the virus for our patrons and staff. We have not pursued other CIP items for 2020, due
to the pandemic, and have simply carried over identified CIP priorities from 2020 to 2021. When in-
person board meetings are back, we will schedule our annual walk-through of the interior and exterior
of the building to identify and prioritize future needs.
Our focus and goals have shifted as we look at how we can continue to provide our core services of
access to the collection, as well as access to technology. Programs and events are not our priority focus
at this time, however, we are working on selectively adding back programs virtually, and our next step is
offering our monthly Schooled in Art program on Zoom again before the end of 2020.
Our goals for 2021 focus on access to core services, technology, and programs for our distance learning
students, homeschool families in our community, and other patrons where there may be a service gap.
We want to safely provide services while continuing to work within the limitations of the pandemic
mandates in order to mitigate the virus for our patrons and staff.
(iRFAT RIVER RMN&
BRARY
