<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 5, 1963 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Aug 5, 1963. <br />Members present: Mayor Johnson, Clerk Briggs, A.J. Meyer, and D.A. Norris. Larson was absent. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Pat Kilmartin was present. He complained about Bernard digging and raising dust on his corner lot. <br />Also about Bernard’s flushing cars and that the oil washes over on to the Kilmartin lot. The clerk <br />was asked to write Bernard about it. <br /> <br />Otis Nickerson asked to buy 15 feet of village property between his lot and the power house. A <br />motion was made by Norris and seconded by Meyer to sell him 15 feet at $10.00 a foot. Carried. <br /> <br />A building permit was issued to Gene Vassar with the understanding that he connect the new house <br />and the other house with the sewer. <br /> <br />Other building permits issued: Hiram Lee, Roy Sparre, Houlton Co. Art Bailey was appointed on the <br />Village Library Board. <br /> <br />Herb Snack complains about garbage and other refuse being burned back of the bakery and Coast to <br />Coast store causing disagreeable odor. The clerk was asked to write the persons who may be <br />responsible. <br /> <br />An application was received from George Short of Big Lake for the position of Village policeman. <br />There was nothing done about it at this meeting. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Gopher Stamp and Die – signs 42.55 <br />Tomel Co – service 5.00 <br />Doeblers Pure Oil – gas, oil 114.35 <br />Ind. Hardsurface – repairs 17.80 <br />Minn. Fire Ext. Co – refill 5.50 <br />Costello Mfg Co – mops 6.89 <br />Holdeman-Homme – bike rack 6.89 <br />Carlson Hardware – mdse 17.94 <br />Coast to Coast – mdse 9.38 <br />Andys Electric – service 44.57 <br />Star News – printing 5.75 <br />Wm. T. Mills- engineer 431.50 <br />League of Minn – dues 104.00 <br />Ind. Hardsurface – repairs 23.80 <br />Sherburne County – road work 106.50 <br />Kemper Drug – supplies 8.24 <br />Greupner Shoe Store – gloves 2.38 <br /> <br />
