<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 3, 1963 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Council was held at the Village Hall on June 3, 1963. All <br />members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />This was a postponed meeting of May 23, 1963. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Larson to zone as residential all that part of the <br />village north and east of the railway and west of Jackson Ave. Now zoned as General Industrial and <br />Manufacturing, north of 40 acre line. <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Meyer to send two members of the council to the <br />meeting of the League of Minnesota Municipalities at Mankato on June 12 and 13. Carried. <br /> <br />Building permit was approved for Mr. A.E. Gongall. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Laron to approve Mayor Johnson’s promise to John <br />Vaca that Power and Light poles will be put in with no damage to Vaca’s trees as long as he owns <br />the property. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition was filed with the clerk signed by ten citizens to have the Spain house on west Main <br />Street removed on account of its being a fire and health hazard. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Norris to accept dedication of small portion of <br />street in north Terrace Addition. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A beer license for on and off beer was approved for the Tip Top Café. <br /> <br />Engineer Wm Mills was present. He showed tentative plans for storm sewer down Morton Ave. <br />Neil Larson showed preliminary plans for lots and a marina on the former county fair property. <br /> <br />There was discussion about other drainage problems also how to get sewer for the Westholter and <br />Steuffen property. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to allow $200.00 to the Fire Department for their annual convention at Morris. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br /> <br />Thomas Painting – paint and labor 268.75 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, oil 8.98 <br />George Moos – police 86.26 <br />N.W. Bell – phones 33.44 <br />Anoka Nursing Home – Leider case 110.00 <br /> <br />
