<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 4, 1963 <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Mar 4, <br />1963 with all members. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Archie Larson representing the Park Board was present. He suggested that new toilets be made at <br />the park and that about fifty trees be planted this year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Norris that the council approve the new toilets and <br />the trees. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Another suggestion was made that concessions be kept open during the summer. <br /> <br />There was a discussion regarding the fire siren. It was decided to try it out in several locations to see <br />which is best. <br /> <br />Mr. Harold Kapping was present. He asked again about the cost of putting in sewer at his home on <br />Main Street. He will see the county engineer as this was on a county road. <br /> <br />This was the date for opening bids on the village property which is for sale. No bids were received. <br /> <br />Chief of Police Micheau and Ernest Nelson presented their report. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Norris to raise the salaries of the members of the <br />Power and Light Commission to $180 per year. Motion carried <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />N.W. Bell – phone sewer plant 16.74 <br />American Nat’l Bank – sewer plant 8367.13 <br />Elk River Lmbr Co – mdse 48.65 <br />A.N. Johnson Co – repairs 25.36 <br />Fairway Store – mdse .98 <br />E.R. Utilities – L&P sewer 140.95 <br />Ind. Hardsurface – repairs 11.00 <br />Wm T Mills – engineer 32.50 <br />N. Cent. Pub Service – fuel 83.35 <br />Municipal Equip Co – 740.00 <br />N.W. Bell – phones 43.27 <br />Clarence Kramer – janitor 10.00 <br />Robt Milne – auditor 350.00 <br />T.L. Anderson – repairs 57.84 <br />Elk River Auto Imp – parts 9.70 <br />Star News – printing 6.00 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – hauling 38.00 <br />Tess Peterson – asst 42.00 <br /> <br />
