<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 4, 1962 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Sept 4, 1962. <br />All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the <br />last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Pat Kilmartin and Clem Pink were present. They would like to have the fire siren moved back to its <br />old location on account of the noise where it is now. The council decided to have it moved. <br /> <br />Kilmartin also asked if the County had a permit to remodel their lot for a parking lot. <br /> <br />The mayor reported that the State Highway Department agreed to repair the Mississippi Bridge on <br />Highway 101 as soon as possible. <br /> <br />The Council asked the clerk to write the Town of Otsego that we will not be able to furnish fire <br />protection to them until the bridge is put in a safe condition. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to send a bill to Anthony Burgoyne for $92.00 for 920 yards of clay from the <br />dump property delivery to Mr. Kapping. <br /> <br />Mr. E.J. Winters, representing the Minn. Equipment Co of Hopkins, Minn was present. He had <br />already demonstrated his Seweroder Machine. The price is to be $4,650.20. A motion was made by <br />Larson and seconded by Kemper to accept the machine at $600.00 down plus freight and about <br />$370.00 per month until the full amount is paid. This agreement to be in effect provided the village <br />attorney decides it is legal. <br /> <br />The following persons representing the Monticello-Big Lake Community Hospital District were <br />present and asked that the Village of Elk River join the district: All Christensen. Paul Eggena, Amos <br />Zam Brumer, Scott Mitchell, Meribeth Olson, Oliver Knutson and George Phillips. They reported <br />that Elk River Township and Otsego had already agreed to join. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to adopt a resolution joining this hospital <br />district. Motion carried all voting in favor. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to mail a check for $200.00 to the N.P. Ry Co to pay the expense of moving the <br />snow fence on the proposed parking lot on railroad property, they to prepare lease on the lot. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Johnson Const Co – School St 585.00 <br />E.R. Auto Imp Co – repairs 96.03 <br />Kemper Drug – supplies 1.02 <br />E.R. Hardware – Mdse 2.30 <br />H&S Asphalt Co – mix 51.15 <br />Library Acct – books 77.72 <br />Coast to Coast – Mdse 2.72 <br />Elk River Lmbr Co – material 8.90 <br /> <br />
