<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 2, 1962 <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on April <br />2, 1962. All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A.L. Johnson and Milton Dwyer were present representing the Bank of Elk River Insurance Agency. <br />They asked about the policy on the Light Plant and whether this policy should be included in the <br />Agency of Record Agreement. More insurance will be necessary on account of the new engine. The <br />matter will be looked into further. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson reported on a trip to Anoka and also to Princeton in regard to methods of garbage <br />disposal. <br /> <br />John Plaisted, representing the Elkrete Readymix Co. was present. He suggested that the village put <br />in curb and gutter in certain parts of town and made a price of $1.86 per foot. Nothing further was <br />done about this at this meeting. <br /> <br />Kate Thomas and Lee Vail were present. There was discussion in regard to vacation of Xenia Ave <br />between Main St and the lake. Kate Thomas will find out how much it will cost to change the fire <br />hydrant so that it can be used. <br /> <br />Curtis Briggs met with the Council. He would like to have an easement across village property to his <br />home east of the power plant. The council will look into the location of the road and get advice <br />from the village attorney. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to allow Henry Keyser, employed at the <br />Liquor Store a raise of $25.00 a month. Motion carried. All voting in favor. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to write owner of laundromat about complaints by customers regarding toilets <br />and change machines. <br /> <br />The clerk reported that an ex___tion was received on Janice Larson, employed at the Liquor Store. <br />A deduction of one half of two weeks salary check was made. Clerk also reported a claim against the <br />liquor store for damages amounting to $900,000.00. Copy of claim on file. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Elk River Utilities – fuel 15.60 <br />N.W. Bell – phones 26.44 <br />Elk River Utilities – March 280.38 <br />Don Downall – transient 3.45 <br />Arthur Barnier – labor 111.86 <br />Elk River Utilities – fuel 14.86 <br />H.A. Briggs – expense 7.45 <br />Rosemary Febhenkamp – clerk lib 10.00 <br />Clarence Kramer – janitor 7.50 <br /> <br />
