<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 6, 1961 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Nov 6, 1961. All <br />members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />Upon motion by Meyer and second by Larson an on and off beer license was granted to Sherman <br />Sachs. <br /> <br />Leon Le Febre applied for a building permit in the name of LeFibure and Sons to erect a building <br />on lot 7 Auditors Subdivision No. 3. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Kemper to <br />grant the permit and that the builder be permitted to build within three feet of the lot line on the <br />north and west side. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Kenneth Parker, School Supt. Ed. Dreissig, Mr. Ady and Kent Holen representing the school board <br />were present. There was discussion regarding a road from the new school east to Jackson St. A <br />motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to buy property from John Vacha at a cost of <br />$1000.00 for the purpose of this road. Motion carried all voting in favor. <br /> <br />Motion by Kemper and seconded by Briggs to authorize Wm Mills to make necessary plans for the <br />road. Carried. <br /> <br />The following levy was made for the coming year: <br />General Fund 33 mills <br />Utilities 5 mills <br />Library Fund 5 mills <br />Poor Fund 2 mills <br />Music Fund ½ mills <br />Firemens Relief 1/10 mills <br /> <br />A motion was made Larson and seconded by Kemper to set the salary of the village assessor at <br />$65.00 for 1962 and $85.00 for 1963. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br />N.W. Pub Service Co – fuel for sewer 61.60 <br />Elk River Utilities – power sewer 127.37 <br />Elk River Hardware – msde sewer 1.136 <br />Tomel Inc. – repairs 7.00 <br />Nickerson Bros. – supplies 1.18 <br />Kemper Drug – supplies 1.09 <br />Dan Bailey – sewer assessments 201.81 <br />Uptown Welding – repairs 1.00 <br /> <br />
