<br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 4, 1946 <br /> <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the municipal building on March 4, <br />1946. Members present Leger, Kramer, Skellenger and Briggs. The meeting was called to order by <br />acting Mayor Elmer Leger. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Lester Derr representing the Fire Department asked that the fireman’s pay be raised to $1.50 per <br />hour. After same discussion a motion was made by Skellenger and seconded by Leger that Firemen <br />receive $1.50 per hour straight through with a minimum of $1.50. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Clarence Anderson and H.L. Johnson brought up the matter of a recreation program for the Village <br />for the coming year. They were asked to meet later with the Council and be prepared to say just <br />what amount of money would be needed and what equipment and keep would be necessary. <br /> <br />Mr. Fred Otto of Faltz, King and Day reported on the electric light and power business. <br /> <br />Representatives of Allison -Williams and Kalman and Co. of Minneapolis gave the Council <br />information on Financing the light and power project with revenue bonds. <br /> <br />George Calberg explained the G.S. Plan for “On the Job Training”. A motion was made by <br />Skellenger and seconded by Kramer that Ward Halsbo be authorized to enter into an agreement <br />with the Veteran Bureau regarding the on the job training. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Skellenger and seconded by Kramer that Faltz, King and Day prepare plans <br />and specification for the purchase of diesel engine. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Brigg and seconded by Kramer that the Council appoint Marley McPherson acting <br />Manager of the Liquor Store at a salary of $175.00 a month and set the salaries of Jim Wringners and <br />Colman Kish at $140.00 a month. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approve and ordered paid: <br />Charls M. Nelson – Salary and car Feb. $147.50 <br />H.A. Brigg – Feb. Page – Janitor Service $7.00 <br />Zella M. Page – Library Books $24.88 <br />Gamble Store – Runner for Hall $4.80 <br />Mrs. H.
