<br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 4, 1946 <br /> <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the municipal building on February 4, <br />1946 with all members present. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Ernst Nelson was present at the meeting and asked about using the old fire siren and having it <br />installed at the Hydro plant as people living in that part of town have trouble hearing the regular <br />siren. After some discussion a motion was made by Leger and seconded by Kramer that the old <br />siren be tried out at the Hydro plant. The motion carried. <br /> <br />E.L. Shadick met with the council and there was considerable discussion in regard to a walk that has <br />been built along the Shadick building between that building and the Caley building. A motion was <br />made by Leger and seconded Kramer to have Village Attorney look up the matter of the sidewalk <br />and also the storing of gas tanks within the Village limits. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Leonard De Schenes was present and explained tentative plans for a butcher shop and slaughter <br />house in the Village. Motion by Skellenger and second by Leger that the Council go on record as <br />being favorable to a slaughter house in town provided it is properly constructed and operated <br />according to State Board of Health regulations. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Skellenger that the Elk River Public Utilities pay the <br />salary of pumper hereafter. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The matter of bids for funding the sewer was discussed and a motion was made by Kramer and <br />seconded by Skellenger that the Village advertise for bids for that purpose. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Resolution <br />V.B. Skellenger proposed the following Resolution which was seconded by Elmer Leger: <br /> <br />Be it Resolved that the Village Council believes it is for the best interest of the Village of Elk River, <br />Minnesota that the Village enter into a joint use centered with Northwestern Bell Telephone <br />Company covering the joint use of poles in said Village. <br /> <br />Be it Further Resolved that the Mayor and the Clerk of said Village be, and hereby are authorized to <br />execute in duplicate and to place on file said joint use contract with Northwestern Bell Telephone <br />Company. <br /> <br />Upon being put to a vote the resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />H.A.
