<br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 15, 1944 <br /> <br /> <br />Special meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held in the Municipal building on December <br />15, 1944. <br /> <br />All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. <br /> <br />Motion by Bailey, seconded by Leger that the council advertise for sealed bids for painting walls and <br />ceiling of council room, hall and library. Two coats, best grade of paint and also, for sanding and <br />varnishing the woodwork of some premises using gest grade materials. Motion carried. Clerk was <br />instructed to place such advertisement in Star News. <br /> <br />Motion by Leger and seconded by Bailey to reject offer of insurance company for settlement of <br />Liquor Store fire and demand full amount asked for. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Leger and seconded by Bailey that payment of insurance premium be held up until after <br />settlement is made. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Briggs and seconded Leger that G.A. Bailey be given a bonus in the amount of $50.00 for <br />his many years of faithful service as a member of Village Council. Motion carried. <br /> <br />After considerable discussion regarding the salaries of the village officers a motion was made by <br />Bailey and seconded by Leger that the following schedule salaries be in effect beginning of January <br />1, 1945: Mayor $65.00 per year, Councilmen $50.00 per year, Clerk $25.00 per month from the <br />general fund and $30.00 per month from the Liquor fund.
