<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 3, 1942 <br /> <br />The Village Council of the Village of Elk River met in the Municipal building on August 3, 1942 at <br />8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Mayor, J. Clinton Walker, Clerk and E.L. Shadick and Frank Nickerson <br />trustees. <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />An application was received from Robert Cornelius for school for 1942 – 1943. <br /> <br />A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by Frank Nickerson appointing Robert Cornelius <br />to the position of School Patrol. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded by E.L Shadick granting J.P. Wagner an off <br />sale 3:2 beer license. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ellen Tracy asked that her rent be paid to E.R. Halter in the amount of $8.00 due August 15, 1942. <br />A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by Frank Nickerson that the amount be paid. <br /> <br />A letter was read from Miss Gladys Hulbert in which she requested $10.00 rent, $10.00 food stamps, <br />50 cents moving charge and that her furniture be moved to St. Cloud. A motion was made by Frank <br />Nickerson and seconded by E.L. Shadick allowing these items. Miss Hulbert also asked for a <br />Spencer girdle and an examination by Dr. Logefild, which was denied. <br /> <br />Mayor Tesch appointed E.L. Shadick and Frank Nickerson and committee to get the roof repaired <br />on the Municipal building. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded by E.L. Shadick accepting the Library report. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to write to Monticello skating that there would be no charge for the service <br />of the E.R.F.D. at the recent fire there. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded by E.L. Shadick allowing the following bills: <br /> <br />Elk River Power & Light Co. – Power & Light $309.45 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co. – Telephone Rent $12.50 <br />John Bither – Care of Flag $2.00 <br />The League of Minn Municipalities – Dues $40.00 <br />The Federated Store – Flag $8.50 <br />Carol Briggs – Lifeguard $50.00 <br />Harold Krays – Labor on Parks $20.00 <br />First National Bank Agency – Insurance $1.32 <br />Treas. of Fire Department – Fire Call $53.03 <br /> <br />
