<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 2, 1959 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on March 2, 1959. <br />All members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Leon Thomas presented a petition regarding operations by aircraft on Lake Orono. The petition <br />asked that no ordinance be adopted affecting such operations. There were about seventy names on <br />the petition. <br /> <br />A petition was presented, signed by forty-nine uptown business people asking that the down town <br />village park be converted into a parking lot. The Council is giving this matter consideration. <br /> <br />A petition was filed signed by ninety-five property owners of the village saying that there are a <br />number of inequitable and unjust situations resulting from the present provisions of the zoning <br />ordinances and that the Council should make further study of the ordinance before proceeding <br />further. <br /> <br />Richard Latta filed a petition signed by nine property owners asking that lots in Blaock 6, Village of <br />Elk River and Lot 19 auditors subdivision No. 4 by shown as R-1, Residential instead of <br />Commercial. <br /> <br />Ermil Hoffman asked that certain lands in the vicinity of Fourth St. and the new proposed highway <br />169 by zoned as commercial instead of residential. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Bergerson to pay bills for disposal plant and <br />maintenance out of the special sewer fund. Carried. <br /> <br />Attorney MacGibbon reported on the progress of acquiring side for disposal plant. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br /> <br />Standard Oil Co. – Gas and Oil $88.92 <br />Chester Goevner – Prisoner Lodging $5.00 <br />Star News – Printing $43.00 <br />Elk River Mch. Shop – Repairs $6.25 <br />Davis Food Mkt. – Dog food $1.62 <br />Minn. Fire Ext Co. – Gaskets $4.87 <br />Flaherty Bros – Wash Car $1.50 <br />Dan Bailey – Recording DVDs $6.50 <br />General Safey Equip CO. – Overhaul Truck $500.00 <br />John E. MacGibbon – Services $28.00 <br />Carlson Bros – Mdse. $2.56 <br />Elk River Motor Sales – Service $45.85 <br />Nickerson Bros – Repairs $182.11 <br />Farm Bureau – Gas & Oil $6.59 <br /> <br />
