<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 4, 1957 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on November 4, <br />1957. Members present, Mayor Schwartz, Sandberg, Meyer, and Dow. Fred Sandberg acted as clerk <br />in the absence of the regular clerk. H.A. Briggs. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Bonestroo of Bonestroo and Elliot Inc. appeared. A motion was made by Dow and seconded <br />by Meyer to renew beer licenses for one year for Sherman Sachs. Carried. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Harry Dreissig appeared and requested three new hand lamps at $7.63 each. <br /> <br />The contracts on fire protection were discussed. Clerk is to mail contracts to each township to <br />include Elk River, Livonia, Big Lake, Otsego, and Burns. <br /> <br />Moved by Sandberg and seconded by Dow to pay Les Derk’s expenses at Bituminous school at <br />University of Minn., November 20. Carried. <br /> <br />Oliver Michean was present. He requested information on insurance coverage of firemen or police <br />on duty after school athletic events. He also requested change of title to Police Chief or asst. to <br />qualify him for insurance privileges. This was tabled until the January meeting. <br /> <br />Michean request a riot gun. He is to investigate price on gun from Carlson Hardware stolen in last <br />holdup. <br /> <br />Motion by Dow and second by Meyer to have three members of the village election board and set <br />the voting hours at 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the December election. Carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Sandberg and seconded by Dow to transfer $5,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the <br />General Fund. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br />Standard Station – gas - $2.00 <br />Olson Imp. Co. – mower parts - $11.35 <br />Leslie Spear – floor repairs - $45.00 <br />Bros. Inc. – plow repairs - $26.08 <br />Andy’s Electric – fuses - $3.11 <br />Minn. Fire Ext. Co. – mdse - $27.10 <br />Sherburne County – road material - $12.50 <br />George Moos – police - $127.61 <br />Zella M. Page – books/conference - $90.99 <br />Dale Kramer – janitor - $5.00 <br />Fire Department – fire - $6.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – hydrant rent $72.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – Mch. Lights $26.31 <br />Elk River Utilities – Street lights $100.00 <br />N.W. Bell – Phone $16.95 <br /> <br />
