<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING <br />February 27, 1957 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Village Council was called by Mayor Schwartz for February 27, 1957 for the <br />purpose of talking with adjoining townships the making of contracts with them for Fire Department <br />services by the Elk River Fire Department. <br /> <br />The following townships were represented: Elk River, Big Lake, Otsego and Livonia. <br /> <br />Deputy Fire Marshall Eugene Weber was present and gave a talk on the subject of rural fire <br />protection and suggestions on how the matter could be handled. There was considerable discussion <br />and questions asked by those present. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Harry Dressig and Mayor Schwartz explained the position of the village in regard to fire <br />service outside the village. <br /> <br />Those present were advised to take it up with their town boards and have a levy made for fire <br />protection. Later a contract can be made if they want protection by the Elk River Fire department. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />H.A. Briggs <br />Village Clerk <br /> <br />
