<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 4, 1957 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor Schwartz on <br />February 4, 1957 with all members present except August Meyer who was sick. The minutes of the <br />last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Al Balow, Liquor store manager, was present. He reported on the liquor dispensers which have been <br />on trial at the liquor store. He did not recommend putting them in at present. <br /> <br />Mr. Balow also asked for a raise for the bar tenders. The Council agreed to leave it to him to do <br />what he thinks best. <br /> <br />Clarence Anderson was present. He complained about stray dogs in his neighborhood. Marshall <br />Michean said he would take care of the dogs as soon as he could have a new gas chamber made. <br /> <br />Fire Chief, Harry Dreissig, brought up the matter of Fire Department contracts with surrounding <br />townships. The clerk was asked to notify clerks of Big Lake, Otsego, Elk River and Livonia <br />Townships of a meeting to be held at the Elk River Village Hall on Monday, February 25. The date <br />was later changed to Wednesday, February 27. This meeting was called to discuss the matter of fire <br />contracts with these townships. <br /> <br />Annual report of clerk and treasurer were approved at this meeting. <br /> <br />Oliver Michean asked permission to have a new metal gas chamber made which was granted. <br />Michean also filed his annual report. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br />Fire Department – fires - $783.00 <br />No. Sub. Mutual Aid Assn. – dues - $5.00 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, oil, repairs - $16.35 <br />Greysner Shoe Store – mitts - $12.60 <br />Board of Education – band - $300.00 <br /> Board of Education – baseball - $400.00 <br />Rosenwald-Cooper – receptacles - $60.56 <br />Miller-Davis Co. – supplies - $14.22 <br />Minn Fire Chief Assn. – dues - $17.00 <br />Elk River Concrete Pr4od. – chloride - $23.50 <br />Bank of Elk River agency – Ins. - $89.48 <br />Flaherty Bros – services - $3.00 <br />Rosenwald-Cooper – sign - $3.34 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse - $5.10 <br />Red Owl Store – groceries – Peterson - $20.00 <br />Floyd Stransburg – labor - $10.00 <br />Star News – envelopes - $8.25 <br />E.R. Utilities – fuel - $48.08 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent - $70.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – lights - $29.62 <br /> <br />
