<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 5, 1956 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on March 5, 1956 by Mayor <br />Schwartz. All members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A representative of the Minn Benefit Association was present and explained a group insurance plan <br />for village employees. After some discussion, a motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer <br />that the proposition be tabled. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Dow to transfer $12,000.00 from the General Fund <br />to the Road and Bridge fund. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to transfer $8,000.00 from the Liquor Fund <br />to the General Funds. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Building permit for Houlton Investment Co. was approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Dow and seconded by Bailey to authorize fire department to purchase one <br />rebuilt portable pump. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Lester Derr was authorized to purchase six “yield” signs to be used on certain village streets. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br /> <br />Anthony Burgayne – snow removal - $32.00 <br />Davis Food Market – groceries Fiero - $12.20 <br />Farm Bureau – gas & oil - $13.87 <br />Harold Sykes – Witness Fee - $1.10 <br />Helen Dreiessig – phone expense - $3.00 <br />Farm Bureau – mdse - $2.50 <br />Fire Department – fires - $30.00 <br />Middlestadt Bros. – furnace filters - $5.00 <br />Andy’s Electric – wiring - $4.07 <br />Miller-Davis Co. – clerk blanks - $14.90 <br />Sherburne County – weed notices - $5.57 <br />Carole Dwyer – assistant librarian - $9.76 <br />Dale Kramer – janitor - $5.00 <br />Municipal Equipment Co. – sewer tools - $31.61 <br />Carl Benson – service & lumber $147.20 <br />Dares Furniture Store – Mdse - $1.60 <br />Caley Hdwr – mdse - $4.50 <br />Star News – publish financial statement - $199.80 <br />David Food Market – dog food - $3.14 <br />George Moon – police - $113.01 <br />NW Bell – telephone - $11.90 <br />E.R.
