<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 6, 1956 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the municipal building on February <br />6, 1956. Dan Bailey acted as Mayor in the absence of Mayor Schwartz. All other members were <br />present. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Dean Bailey was present. He recommended some slow or “yield” signs on certain through streets, <br />also, larger school signs. The council agreed to give it consideration. <br /> <br />Harry Dresisig, Fire Chief, inquired about regulations regarding gas installations n the village. The <br />clerk was instructed to write the League for sample ordinance. <br /> <br />Al Balow, manager of the liquor store left some bids for painting at the store. <br /> <br />Lester Derr was present and there was discussion regarding getting certain tools and equipment for <br />sewer work. Derr will look into this matter further. <br /> <br />Motion by Bailey and seconded by Meyer to add vandalism and malicious mischief to the insurance <br />policy at the First National Bank. Carried. <br /> <br />A delegation consisting of Lawrence Nordwall and John Moorhouse who represent the County Fair <br />Board asked to have space near the ballpark for the County Fairgrounds. They were referred to the <br />athletic association. <br /> <br />Motion by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to renew beer license of Walter L. Johnson for one year. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />The council agreed that the blacklisting of Harley Rohlf be renewed. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered to be paid. <br /> <br />Davis Food Market – groceries O. Demars - $39.00 <br />Coast to Coast Store – Mdse - $17.84eM <br />Oliver DeMars - $44.00 <br />Farm Bureau – gas & oil - $4.55 <br />Farm Bureau – gas & oil, fire department - $5.77 <br />Miller – Davis Co. – clerk blanks - $8.92 <br />Zella M. Page – library books - $44.66 <br />E. R. Utilities – street lighting - $100.00 <br />E. R. Utilities – Mcl lights - $66.08 <br />E. R. Utilities – Hydrant rent - $70.00 <br />E. R. Utilities – Fuel for hall - $45.51 <br />Dale Kramer – janitor - $23.50 <br />John McGibbon – services - $23.50 <br />Oil Co. of Elk River – gas & oil - $55.42 <br />Farm Bureau – fuel for O. DeMars - $32.40 <br /> <br />
