<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 5, 1955 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on July 5, 1955. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read <br />and approved. <br /> <br />There was a delegation of insurance men present composed of T.H. Daly, Stanley Wheaton, Dale <br />Palmer, G.A. Johnson and Mr. Dirkers. There was a discussion regarding the village insurance which <br />was carried over from the June meeting. Mr. Dirkers of Minneapolis answered numerous questions <br />regarding village insurance. <br /> <br />Finally, a secret ballot was taken on motion made at the June meeting by Bailey. Results of the vote <br />were: <br />Yes -2 No-2. The mayor who had the deciding vote voted no and the motion lost. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Dow that the agents get together and propose a plan <br />and schedule including two fleet policies so that the council will know what insurance we have. <br />Carried. The council asked that there be 80% co-insurance $100,000.00 to $300,000 liability coverage <br />$10,000.00 property damage and $100.00 deductible collision insurance. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Dow to accept bid of $99.00 for coating roof of <br />village hall including material. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Dow and a second by Dow the Council approved the transfer of $2000.00 recently <br />transferred from the Liquor Fund to the General Fund. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Anthony Burgoyne – hauling 16.00 <br />Lester Derr – repairs 6.99 <br />Harry Dow – equalization board 12.00 <br />August Meyer – equalization board 12.00 <br />Edward C Schwartz – equalization board 12.00 <br />H.A. Briggs – equalization board 12.00 <br />Dan Bailey – equalization board 12.00 <br />Geo Moos – police 195.87 <br />John W Olson – mowing weeds 56.00 <br />Zella M Page – janitor 4.00 <br />Zella M Page – books 33.80 <br />Zella M Page – asst and club dues 7.50 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 70.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – mds lights 35.31 <br /> <br />
