<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 4, 1955 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Apr 4, 1955. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read <br />and approved. <br /> <br />There was discussed about village traffic and complaint of village marshall regarding parking of <br />trucks on village streets on week ends. The matter of a separate telephone for the police department <br />was discussed but no action was taken. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Harry Dreissig was present and recommended that a village ordinance be prepared <br />regulating the installation of gas furnaces in the village. The clerk was instructed to write the League <br />for a sample ordinance. <br /> <br />The council agreed to remove name of William Belanger from the Liquor Store black list. <br /> <br />There was a discussion regarding street work to be done this year and repairing of village sidewalks. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Rosewald Cooper – signs 207.52 <br />Board of Education – bond basketball 750.00 <br />Bank of Elk River – insurance 68.44 <br />Caley Hdwe – mdse 1.95 <br />Miller-Davis Co – justice blanks 2.38 <br />American Paint Corp – zone paint 74.00 <br />Fire Department – fires 90.00 <br />Sherburne County – weed expense 56.18 <br />State Farm – insurance 40.94 <br />E.R.
