<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 1, 1954 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Mar 1, 1954. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Maron Nelles was present and asked help for his brother. Leo Nelles who is disabled and unable to <br />work. The case was turned over to the Relief Committee for attention. <br /> <br />Manager Balow was present with reports of the Liquor Store. <br /> <br />National Cash Register Representative met with the Council and gave prices on cash registers and <br />adding machines. <br /> <br />Also salesman from St. Cloud Typewriter Co demonstrated an adding machine. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Bailey to buy one adding machine from the St. <br />Cloud Typewriter Shop for the Liquor Store at $144.00. Carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Dow and second by Meyer the council agreed to purchase a National Cash register <br />four drawer machine for the Municipal Liquor Store. <br /> <br />The Liquor Store needs a new cooler as the old one is no longer serviceable. A motion was made by <br />Meyer and seconded by Dow to enter into an agreement with Banke Electric for a new cooler at the <br />price of $399.95 less $150.00 for the old one. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Bailey to transfer $1500.00 from the Liquor Store <br />deposits to the Liquor Store working capital. Carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk reported that former auditors, Wm McGregor wished to have it on record that he <br />resigned as auditor for the Liquor Store and re-applied for the position. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs to approve transfer of $2500.00 from the Liquor Fund to the General <br />Fund. Motion was second by Bailey and carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Bailey and second by Dow Council approved paying a fee of $15.00 for Fire Chief <br />Association and $15.00 for Mutual Aid. Carried. <br /> <br />As all sewer bonds have been paid off a motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyers to <br />transfer all money in the Sewer Construction and Sewer Assessment Funds to the General Fund. <br />Also any money coming in from apportionment in the future. Motion carried. <br /> <br />
