<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 5, 1953 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Oct 5, 1953. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Dwight Moyer presented a tentative village plat for Mrs. Jessie Peppin near the Catholic Church <br />property which was approved by the Council. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />The following resolution was adopted by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Minnesota, <br />to-wit: <br />WHEREAS, The State of Minnesota through its Director of Civil Defense has requested that the <br />Village of Elk River, Minnesota, furnish to the State of Minnesota space to be used as storage for <br />organizational equipment of State Mobile Support Units, and, <br />WHEREAS, The State of Minnesota through its Director of Civil Defense has requested that the <br />Village of Elk River, enter into a lease for a period of two (2) years or any extension thereof, wherein <br />the said Village will furnish space for the storage of said equipment and will keep said premises <br />heated and under reasonable security. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Minnesota, <br />that the Village of Elk River enter into a lease with the State of Minnesota providing for the <br />necessary space for the storage of said equipment and providing that the said Village shall maintain <br />the premises so leased in accordance with the terms of the lease submitted by the State of Minnesota <br />herein and the President and Clerk and hereby authorized and directed to execute such lease on <br />behalf of said village of Elk River. <br />The above Resolution was duly submitted to the Village Council of Elk River, Minnesota, and was <br />unanimously passed by the said Council on Oct 5, 1953. <br />E.A. Parent <br />H.A. Briggs <br /> <br />th <br />Lester Derr reported that Ben Keays and neighbors want a street light on Spring St. and 4 St and <br />also one 300 feet farther out on Burns Road. The matter was to be referred to the Power and Light <br />Commission. Derr also reported that a drain is being put in where suction hydrant is to be placed. <br /> <br />Joe Schwab and delegation asked permission to put up a sign at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church to <br />slow down or stop traffic. Council agreed. <br /> <br />Trustee Bailey presented Curfew Ordinance (Number 46) and moved its adoption. It was seconded <br />by Meyer and was passed, all voting in favor. <br /> <br /> <br />
