<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 90-17 <br />RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A CORP OF ENGINEERS STUDY <br />OF LAKE ORONO UNDER SECTION 205 FOR <br />SMALL FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, properties within the City of Elk River adjacent to <br />the Elk River have suffered damage and been seriously <br />threatened by flooding; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lake Orono has lost significant depth due to siltation <br />to the point where many acres are no longer navigable; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City of Elk River that the <br />siltation of Lake Orono has lead to the frazzled ice <br />conditions which have caused the flooding problems. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City <br />of Elk River, Minnesota: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />The City Council requests the U.S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers to conduct studies to determine the <br />feasibility of developing a small flood control <br />project at Lake Orono under the authority provided by <br />Section 205 of the 1948 Control Act as amended. <br /> <br />2. It is understood that, if it is found feasible and <br />advisable to develop a small flood control project at <br />Lake Orono, the City Council would be required before <br />construction commences to enter into a contractual <br />agreement that it will provide such local cooperation <br />as may be prescribed by the Secretary of the Army. <br /> <br />3. The City Clerk of the City of Elk River shall be, and <br />is hereby, directed to transmit three copies of this <br />resolution to the District Engineer, St. Paul <br />District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 1421 U.S. Post <br />Office and Custom House, St. Paul, MN 55101-9809. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the City:].coun il Of. the C. itYmf E River <br />this 23rd Day of April, 1990. ~ ' <br /> <br />.vt("~ yf AL . <br /> <br />James A.
