UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Mike Tietz –Technical Services Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />September 8, 20206.1i <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• In August, the Locating Department had a total of 615 locate tickets consisting of 2 <br />emergency tickets, 520 normal tickets, 4 boundary survey tickets, 1 non-excavation <br />ticket, 72 updated tickets, 8 cancellations, and 8 locate meets. This is a 3% increase in <br />volume of tickets from the previous month. <br /> <br />• Electrical Technicians continue to do weekly meter reads, service orders, updating the <br />power bill, weekly substation checks, dealing with customer meter issues and off-peak <br />concerns. The electrical techs continue disconnecting the remaining off-peak radios on <br />the system as time allows. Approximately 67% of the 496 radios have been <br />disconnected at this time. <br /> <br />• On August 20, staff ran generators #1, #2, & #4. Staff noted that one of the raw water <br />pumps that cools #1 & #2 had developed a significant leak so it was taken out of service. <br />We will work on getting this repaired as soon as possible. <br /> <br />• Mapping department continues to update points and attributes for our systems assets <br />within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. The AppSuite/ESRI integration went live on August <br />25. Staff continues toassistthe water department with on-call rotation support. <br /> <br />• EIR Testing & Maintenance completed the repair of 3 voltage regulators which were <br />picked up on August 21. We dropped off another set of regulators at the same time for <br />repair. We are planning to have them back in service the first week of September. <br /> <br />• Theresa and I attended the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) Annual <br />Summer Conference. There wereseveral virtual seminars that focused on COVID-19 <br />topics ranging fromhow municipals maintained operations during this time to coping <br />with the stressof the situation. Jack Kegel gave a very nice presentation on the history <br />of MMUA.
