UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:FROM:
ERMU Commission Michelle Canterbury– Executive Administrative Manager
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
September 8, 20206.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
TheSeptember bill insert is a promotional flyer on our Automatic Bill Payment program.
This program, where the full amount of a customer’s monthly utility bill is drafted from
their bank account on the due date, is a quick and easy wayforcustomersto pay their
bill. A $5.00 bill credit will be offered to new customers enrolling for the first time.
Attached is a copy of the bill insert.

August and September social media posts feature a variety of topics including:
SmartHub; wasted energy detective - mysterious living room losses; refrigerator: a look
inside; ok smart speaker, help me save energy; ERMU’s Employee Wellness Program;
and various public service announcements. A notice will also be posted regarding the
September commission meeting date and change of meeting location.

The Communications Department continues to create and implement videos into our
social media whenever possible. Although you won’t see it until next month,
Communications & Administrative Coordinator Tony Mauren sought to get the best
footage of the pole top rescue training possible, which required a towering ascent in a
bucket to capture the action from a totally different angle. Some of you may remember
that last year Tony climbed the Gary Street Water. It’s a good thing he doesn’t have a
fear of heights and will do whatever it takes to produce a great video! See attached
pictures.

The ERMU website overhaul initiative is moving along nicely, keeping the
Communications Department very busy with copy editing content and selecting images
and graphics for the new site. We are nearing the end of stage 3 of the web
development process which is the programming stage. The next stage will be content
and search engine optimization (SEO) which typically takes between 2 to 4 weeks. Based
on the current progress of the project, the go-live date has been pushed out about a
month from what we had originally planned on; the good news is it will still occur before
the end of 2020.
______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 2
86
