UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski –Administrations Director <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />September 8, 20201.5 <br />SUBJECT: <br />2020 Customer Service Week <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Adopt Resolution20-6 Recognizing Customer Service Week, October 5-9, 2020 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In 1992 the U.S. Congress, by Senate joint resolution, designated the first week of Octoberas <br />National Customer Service Week and requested the President issue a proclamation in support. <br />On October 8, 1992, President George Bush issued Proclamation 6485 recognizing the first <br />week of October as National Customer Service Week. <br /> <br />In President Bush’s proclamation he notes, “…businesses will do a better job of providing high <br />quality goods and services by listening to its employees and by empowering them with <br />opportunities to make a difference. Customer service professionals work in the front lines <br />where a firm meets its customers; where supply meets demand. With responsive policies and <br />procedures and with simple courtesy, customer service professionals can go a long way toward <br />ensuring customer satisfaction…” <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities’ mission statement promises: “To provide our customers with safe, <br />reliable, cost effective and quality long term electric and water utility service.
