<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 6, 1952 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Oct 6, 1952. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A delegation from the Commercial Club with Milton Dyer as spokesman was present. They wanted <br />to learn what the council reaction would be to the proposition of buying the lake property at the site <br />of the boat races. The council agreed to give the matter consideration. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to buy a reconditioned typewriter for the <br />library for $83.00 and the old one. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following levy was made for 1953. <br />General Fund $10,000.00 <br />Poor Fund 500.00 <br />Road and Bridge Fund 6,000.00 <br />Library Fund 1400.00 <br />Music Fund 2 mills <br /> <br />The council agreed to pay the county $2.00 a day per person for use of the county jail. Also agreed <br />to offer $3.00 a day for jailor. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to approve transfer $1000.00 Liquor Fund to <br />General Fund. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to transfer $6500.00 from Liquor Fund to <br />General Fund for payment of fine $1000.00 Sewer warrants and interest at the First National Bank. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />Trustee Bailey presented the following ordinance and moved its adoption. It was seconded by Briggs <br />and carried. All voting in favor. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 44 <br />An Ordinance Regulating the use of highways within the village of Elk River <br /> <br />Incorporating provisions of the State Highway Traffic Regulation Act by reference, and imposing a <br />penalty for the violation thereof. <br /> <br />The council of the village of Elk River do ordain as follows: <br />Section 1. Highway Traffic Regulation Act Incorporated by Reference. The regulatory provisions of <br />Minnesota Statutes 1945.C.169, as amended by Laws 1947, and Laws 1949, are hereby adopted as a <br /> <br />
