VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING December 3, 1951 A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Dec 3, 1951. Members present: R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ellingson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. August Leider met with the council and asked for some help for groceries as he has not been able to get any work. The council agreed to allow him $10.00 a week, $5.00 worth on Tues. and $5.00 on Sat at Davis Food Market. There was some discussion in regard to making some agreement with the State Highway Department for snow removal from State highways. The clerk was asked to write the highway department for blanks for the purpose. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to appoint the following to the Village Library Board: Charles Dare Harvey Lindberg Gladys Bade The motion carried. A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Bailey to transfer $5650.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Sewer Construction Fund for the purpose of paying off five $1000.00 Sewer Warrants and interest held by the Bank of Elk River. Carried. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to increase Les Derr’s salary to $300.00 a month beginning Jan 1, 1952. Motion carried. The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: Star News – notices 11.30 Fire Department – fires 87.00 Miller-Davis Co – blanks for Clerk 4.29 Miller-Davis Co – election supplies 3.02 Hettrick Bros – gas and oil 23.21 Marshall Wells store – mdse 6.95 Board of Education – Summer recreation 350.00 Board of Education – Band Instructor 400.00 Oil Co of Elk River – fuel for hall 29.61 Farm Bureau – gas and oil 39.92 Farm Bureau – fuel for hall 28.20 Elk River Utilities – lights 45.55
