<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 3, 1951 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Dec 3, 1951. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ellingson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />August Leider met with the council and asked for some help for groceries as he has not been able to <br />get any work. The council agreed to allow him $10.00 a week, $5.00 worth on Tues. and $5.00 on Sat <br />at Davis Food Market. <br /> <br />There was some discussion in regard to making some agreement with the State Highway <br />Department for snow removal from State highways. The clerk was asked to write the highway <br />department for blanks for the purpose. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to appoint the following to the Village <br />Library Board: <br />Charles Dare <br />Harvey Lindberg <br />Gladys Bade <br />The motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Bailey to transfer $5650.00 from the Liquor Fund <br />to the Sewer Construction Fund for the purpose of paying off five $1000.00 Sewer Warrants and <br />interest held by the Bank of Elk River. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to increase Les Derr’s salary to $300.00 a <br />month beginning Jan 1, 1952. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Star News – notices 11.30 <br />Fire Department – fires 87.00 <br />Miller-Davis Co – blanks for Clerk 4.29 <br />Miller-Davis Co – election supplies 3.02 <br />Hettrick Bros – gas and oil 23.21 <br />Marshall Wells store – mdse 6.95 <br />Board of Education – Summer recreation 350.00 <br />Board of Education – Band Instructor 400.00 <br />Oil Co of Elk River – fuel for hall 29.61 <br />Farm Bureau – gas and oil 39.92 <br />Farm Bureau – fuel for hall 28.20 <br />Elk River Utilities – lights 45.55 <br /> <br />
